- Homestays & local cooking
- Endless silver-blue horizons
The experience
Impossibly blue, impossibly high, Lake Titicaca shimmers between Peru and Bolivia at 3,800m. Float out to the Uros islands — entire villages woven from reeds — and meet some of the warmest people in the Andes.
The Uros build their islands, homes and boats from totora reeds, and welcome you with bright textiles, song and laughter. On Taquile, knitting is a men’s art form and the views stretch forever across the silver water.
Sunsets here turn the whole lake to gold. Wrap up warm, breathe the thin clear air, and let the calm of the altiplano settle over you.
