Day 1

Welcome to Lima

Arrival in Lima

Welcome to Peru! Touch down in the capital and transfer to your hotel to settle in.

Day 2

Lima city tour & Museo Larco

Miraflores & San Isidro

Set out along the Pacific cliffs through Lima's smart, leafy seaside districts with wide ocean views.

Huaca Pucllana

Pause at the great pre-Inca adobe pyramid that has survived the city growing up around it.

Colonial old town

Explore the UNESCO historic centre — Plaza de Armas, Government Palace and Cathedral — and the Santo Domingo convent.

Museo Larco

Finish at the Larco Museum's dazzling pre-Columbian ceramics before returning to Larcomar or your hotel.

Day 3

Fly to Cusco — city & Inca ruins

Flight to Cusco

Transfer to the airport and fly to the imperial city (3,399 m), then on to your hotel.

San Cristóbal & San Blas

Head up to the San Cristóbal viewpoint and walk down through San Blas — the Siete Borreguitos lane, the Sapantiana aqueduct, the Twelve-Angled Stone and the Plaza de Armas.

Cathedral & Qorikancha

In the afternoon, step inside the Cathedral and the Qorikancha, the Inca Temple of the Sun.

Ruins above the city

Explore Sacsayhuamán, Q'enqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay before returning to your hotel.

Day 4

Inca Trail — Cusco to Wayllabamba

Drive to Km 82

Cross the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo, then take the dirt road to Km 82, the trailhead.

Along the Urubamba

Begin hiking beside the Urubamba river, passing the community of Miskay and the ruins of Patallacta.

Camp at Wayllabamba

After lunch, continue through lush terrain — home of the giant hummingbird — to camp at Wayllabamba (3,000 m). About 12 km, 5–6 hours.

Day 5

Over Dead Woman's Pass to Pacaymayo

Climb to Warmihuañusca

Set off at 06:00, ascending a narrow trail through cloud forest to Llulluchapampa and the highest pass, Warmihuañusca (4,200 m).

Descend to Pacaymayo

Drop down a winding valley alive with birdlife to camp at Pacaymayo (3,500 m). About 13 km, 6–7 hours.

Day 6

Inca ruins to Wiñaywayna

Runkurakay & Sayacmarca

A day of Inca masterworks — climb to Runkurakay, cross its pass, and visit the ruins of Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarka.

Camp at Wiñaywayna

Descend to Wiñaywayna, with hot showers and a farewell celebration for the crew. About 16 km, 7–8 hours.

Day 7

Sun Gate to Machu Picchu, then Cusco

Inti Punku at sunrise

Set off at 04:00 along the final trail, reaching Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, for a magnificent first view of Machu Picchu.

Guided tour of the citadel

Your guide leads you through the lost city for around two hours.

Return to Cusco

Bus down to Aguas Calientes and take the train to Ollantaytambo or Poroy, then transfer to your Cusco hotel. About 6 km, 3–4 hours.

Departure

Transfer to the airport

At leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima or onward journey.
