Arrival in Huaraz
Arrive in the mountain town of Huaraz (3,300 m), transfer to your hotel and set straight out into the valley.
Cordillera Blanca & Huascarán
Wind through the Callejón de Huaylas beneath the white peaks, with Peru's highest mountain, Huascarán (6,768 m), towering above.
Andean villages
Pass pretty highland towns — Carhuaz, where you'll taste ice cream made from pure milk and fresh fruit, and Yungay, with its poignant memorial garden.
Laguna Llanganuco
Enter Huascarán National Park to reach the turquoise waters of Llanganuco, cradled by glaciers and groves of queñual trees.

Over the Cahuish pass
Set off early across the high Cahuish tunnel (4,550 m) into the Conchucos valley, with sweeping mountain views along the way.
Chavín temple
Explore one of the Andes' oldest ceremonial centres — the carved tenon heads, the Lanzón monolith, underground galleries, plazas and stairways.
Chavín museum
Round off at the modern national museum, then return to Huaraz for the night.
