Day 1

Welcome to Peru! Touch down in the capital and transfer to your hotel to settle in.

Lima — culinary tour, city & Museo Larco

Market & cooking class

Discover Lima's food scene at a traditional market, exploring fresh produce and seafood, then cook alongside local chefs in a hands-on class crowned with your own Peruvian lunch.

Miraflores & San Isidro

In the afternoon, take in the Pacific cliffs and the smart seaside districts with their wide ocean views.

Huaca Pucllana

Pause at the great pre-Inca adobe pyramid that has survived the city growing up around it.

Old town & Museo Larco

Explore the UNESCO historic centre and Santo Domingo convent, then finish at the Larco Museum's dazzling pre-Columbian ceramics.

Day 3

Fly to Arequipa — the white city

Flight to Arequipa

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Arequipa, then a free morning to rest and acclimatise.

Historic centre

Afternoon tour of the Plaza de Armas, City Hall, Cathedral and La Compañía church, all built from gleaming white sillar stone.

Santa Catalina Monastery

Wander the painted lanes of this striking monastery, a city within a city.

Yanahuara & San Lázaro market

Visit the Andalusian-style Yanahuara viewpoint and the lively San Lázaro market, with a dinner at an emblematic Arequipa restaurant.

Day 4

Arequipa to the Colca Valley

Vicuña reserve & altiplano

Drive past Yura and the Aguada Blanca vicuña reserve, crossing the Tocra wetlands rich with migratory birds.

Volcano viewpoint

Stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes for sweeping views across the high Andes.

Chivay village

Arrive in Chivay for lunch and a stroll through the town and its market.

Day 5

Cruz del Cóndor & on to Puno

Cruz del Cóndor

Early start to the famous lookout over the deep Colca Canyon to watch condors ride the morning thermals.

Colca villages

Visit Maca and Yanque and the Antahuilque viewpoint on the way back to Chivay.

High road to Puno

Cross the altiplano past stone-forest formations and Crucero Alto (4,538 m), then the Lagunillas lakes, reaching Puno after about six hours.

Day 6

Titicaca — Uros, Taquile & Luquina homestay

Uros & Taquile

Cross the lake past the Uros' floating reed islands to Taquile, spending three hours with a community famed for its symbolic weaving.

Lakeside lunch & arches

Enjoy a typical lunch with panoramic lake views, then descend the island's stone arches and 500-plus steps.

Luquina Chico homestay

Cross to Luquina Chico on the Chucuito peninsula to stay with an Aymara family, with a sunset walk along the shore.

Evening with the family

Share dinner and a warm cultural exchange with your host family.

Day 7

Luquina to Puno

Morning in Luquina

Breakfast with your hosts and optional activities — a lakeside walk or a sailing boat hired straight from the community.

Lunch & return to Puno

Lunch at La Casa del Pescador before crossing back to Puno.

Day 8

Andean route from Puno to Cusco

Pukara & La Raya

Travel north via the Pukara ceremonial terraces and the La Raya pass amid snow-capped peaks.

Lunch in Sicuani

Pause for lunch and a rest before continuing into the Cusco region.

Raqchi & Andahuaylillas

Explore Raqchi, the temple of Wiracocha, and the gilded 'Sistine Chapel of the Americas' at Andahuaylillas, reaching Cusco by late afternoon.

Day 9

Cusco — sweet treats & Inca ruins

San Cristóbal & San Blas

Begin at the San Cristóbal viewpoint over Cusco and descend through San Blas, tasting Peruvian-flavoured artisan ice creams.

ChocoMuseo

Explore the story of cacao and sample fine chocolates at the ChocoMuseo.

Cathedral & Qorikancha

In the afternoon, step inside the Cathedral and the Qorikancha, the Inca Temple of the Sun.

Ruins above the city

Explore Sacsayhuamán, Q'enqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay before returning to your hotel.

Day 10

Maras, Moray & the Sacred Valley

Maras salt pans

Visit the pretty village of Maras and its cascade of salt terraces, worked since Inca and colonial times.

Moray terraces

Marvel at the concentric agricultural terraces of Moray, an Inca laboratory of microclimates.

Mountain lunch at Tiobamba

Enjoy a deluxe Andean lunch at the Unu restaurant high in the hills.

Ollantaytambo fortress

Climb the terraced fortress of Ollantaytambo before settling into your Sacred Valley hotel.

Day 11

Machu Picchu & back to Cusco

Train to Machu Picchu

Take the Expedition train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes and ride the bus up to the citadel.

Guided tour of the citadel

Explore the new wonder of the world — its religious, civil and military quarters — with your guide.

Lunch & train to Cusco

Return to Aguas Calientes for an included lunch, then the train to Poroy and transfer to your Cusco hotel.

Departure

Transfer to the airport

At leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and onward connection.
